Summer coming to a close.

Posted on September 2, 2010 at 12:31 PM

Awww, what lovely temperatures this morning.  I was able to sleep with the windows open last night without getting too hot or cool.  I love this time of year!  It'll be even better once the leaves start changing colors and cool breezes twirl them around.

Yep, summer is coming to an end.  In celebration of that and the fact that the kids are going back to school next week, I'm planning a little at-home campout this weekend.  There will be a wienie roast and gooey, sticky s'mores for all.  We'll also do one more run through the sprinklers and a bit of sun worshiping.

It'll be a lot of fun that I hope they'll remember for a long time because soon enough the air will turn cold, the ground will freeze and no one will want to go outside.  Winter's dreary, gray days will come and we'll all go into hibernation mode.

Tim has been begging to go camping this weekend, but with it also being Labor Day weekend I just don't see that happening.  It costs more in gas to pull the camper than the campsite rental does.  It's cheaper to hit a Motel 6 & drive the van than to take the camper right now.  And with all of his medial bills...well, he's outta luck on that right now.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying the sun-filled, cooler days that the end of summer is offering.  Laundry is drying on the line and the oppressive summer heat holds of until far into the afternoon.  Both of which mean my power bill will be much lower next month.  Woohoo!

I hope all of you find some way to enjoy your weekend and send summer off in style.  Farewell to the lazy days of summer!  We'll see you next year.  8)
